On Thursday, April 15, 2010, the IIDA New York Chapter (IIDA NY) held its annual Student Scholarship Student Party and Awards Night at the Steelcase showroom at 4 Columbus Circle in New York City. IIDA NY awarded five $3,000 scholarships in Interior Design plus ten one-year IIDA Student Memberships to both winners and honorable mention recipients.

In order to qualify, students must be currently enrolled as a junior, senior or graduate student in an accredited New York State college or university Interior Design program. 44 Students from 6 schools submitted 83 projects for consideration.

The 2010 IIDA NY Student Scholarship Awards Winners are:

• Alberto Rosario, Fashion Institute of Technology
• Galit Almog, Fashion Institute of Technology
• Greg Diedrich, Parsons the New School for Design
• Kelly Lo, Parsons the New School for Design
• Alberto Chan, Parsons the New School for Design.

Honorable Mentions were awarded to:

• Lauren Victoria Reyes, Fashion Institute of Technology
• Anne-Mette Krolmark, Parsons the New School for Design
• Silvia Maffei, Parsons the New School for Design
• Sarah J. Muchow, New York School of Interior Design
• Jessica Ekblaw, Cornell University.

Scholarship entries were judged by IIDA NY Board Members and design professionals Brad Rim, 2010 Scholarship Committee Co-Chair, Andrew Fredman Architect LLC; Shiva Joseph, 2010 Scholarship Committee Co-Chair, Odegard, Inc.; Jessica Mann Amato, IIDA NY Chapter President, Spector Group; Lance Amato, IIDA NY VP of Professional Development, Conant Architecture; Dale Greenwald, IIDA NY Chapter Past-President, Cannon Design; Eileen Ragsdale, IIDA NY Associate Member Representative, TPG; Suzette Rhodes, IIDA NY Sustainability Forum Co-Director, Herman Miller; Hazel Siegel, IIDA NY Knowledge Forum Director, Atelier Hazel Siegel; and Randy Fahey, IIDA NY Past-President, Gensler.
