Source to Surface is an IIDA NY Catalyst initiative that connects design firms and corporations donating surplus office furniture with approved nonprofits that can put it to use. The goal is to reduce waste, support the community, and make quality furniture accessible to organizations doing meaningful work.

Any company, design firm, or individual with gently used commercial furniture in good condition is welcome to donate. This includes seating, desks, storage, tables, and more.

Requests are open to approved nonprofits only. Organizations must register and receive approval before accessing listings.
For Nonprofits

Click Here to access the online application form. Once your application is reviewed and approved, you will receive an access code via email that allows you to submit furniture requests.

Approvals are reviewed by the IIDA NY Catalyst Committee. You can expect a response within 5–7 business days.

There is no cost to request furniture through Source to Surface. Nonprofits are responsible for coordinating pickup logistics with the donor.

Browse the listings, click "Request This Item" on any listing, and enter your access code when prompted. You will then be directed to a short request form. A Catalyst volunteer will follow up within one week.

Yes. Submit a separate request for each listing you are interested in.
For Donors

Click the "Donate" button at the top of the page to fill out the donation form. You will be asked to provide photos, a description, quantity, condition, and pickup location.

Furniture should be in Good, Excellent, or Like New condition — clean, functional, and free of significant damage.

The nonprofit recipient is responsible for coordinating pickup directly with the donor. Once a match is confirmed, both parties will be introduced via email to arrange logistics.

Listings are active for 30 days. If your item has not been matched within that window, you are welcome to resubmit.
